Where does coffee come from?
Coffee grows on the plant Coffea arabica and Coffea canephora. They are tropical plants and grow best in tropical areas, around the equator. It grows as red berries. Ideal temperatures for plant growth is around 19-25 degrees celsius.
10 kilos of coffee cherries will yield 1-2 kilos of coffee beans. After harvesting the coffee cherries, the seeds removed from the fruit and dried. These seeds or beans further cleaned and washed. They are then hulled, screened, sorted, and graded. Now that the beans are ready, they are roasted and ground.
It is during roasting that the coffee gets its aroma. The roasted beans are ground, if required, as per the purpose-filter, espresso or instant!
Different Types of Coffee
1. Filter coffee: Also known as drip coffee requires the roasted beans to be ground up real fine. This is then placed on a filter paper and water at boiling temperature is poured through the paper into your mug. The coffee powder remains in the paper. These days, we get machines for doing this.
2. Espresso: Espresso machines are high-pressure systems that press the boiling water and coffee grounds together. This pressed coffee comes out and is poured into cups
3. Instant: Instant coffee is just very finely ground coffee beans that dissolve in water or milk. Just pour hot milk on them and they’re ready to serve.

Coffee associated with an increase in acidity levels of your body. If you’re an avid coffee drinker, you know what I’m talking about. Too much coffee or in some people, even moderate amounts of coffee can cause things like heartburn, symptoms of reflux, gas, and just plain discomfort in your stomach.
2. Poor coffee quality
Poor quality coffee, the ones that come cheap, have a lot of adulterations in them. They are a lot of added impurities that make them unfit and undesirable to consume. 3. Too much coffee can kill you
I know that I just told you that coffee can increase the longevity of your life and now I’m telling you it can kill you. Well, I said “too much” coffee can kill you. So, how much is too much? Some websites say, if you drink over 22 cups of coffee in a day, your 23rd cup can kill you on the spot. This contains about 10-12 grams of coffee and such a high dose consumed together can prove to lethal. Even though 22 cups seems like a high amount, I suggest you drink not more than 5 cups of coffee in a day.
The same coffee that helps you fight the extra sleep in the morning can lead to giving you insomnia and lack of sleep. Always drink coffee in moderation and ideally, morning time works best. This is so that the effects of coffee wear off by nightfall.

Pregnant women can still consume some small amounts of coffee daily- 3 cups or less. Drinking more than that has linked to an increased risk of premature infants and other post-term complications. Even lactating women need to watch their coffee consumption amounts as coffee isn’t good for the baby.
